Professional Committee

The Phi Delta Epsilon Professional Committee encourages professional curiosity and personal development in all of our members. By organizing speaker events and workshops, our team helps members gain skills and knowledge that are indispensable for successfully navigating the path into the world of medicine.

Once a month we invite professionals from a range of health disciplines to speak during our weekly meetings. In the past, we have heard from neurosurgeons, pediatricians, genetics specialists and clinical scientists, and learned healthcare-level cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques from a veteran St. John Ambulance teacher. Past and current medical students have also come to talk about their experiences applying to medical school and surviving their time there. This year, we look forward to holding workshops to develop essential skills such as improving study habits, performing well in interviews and practicing conflict resolution in everyday communication.

Everyone in this committee has a role to play. Every committee member gets a chance to participate through suggesting an event, contacting potential speakers, updating our events listing online, delivering a short introduction of the speaker for the audience, and taking photos or notes of the lecture/workshop. Each member of the committee contributes to the success of our events and gains valuable leadership and organizing experience.

I look forward to collaborating with all of you, and I know UBC Phi Delta Epsilon is in for our best year yet!
