Philanthropy Committee
As aspiring students determined to become medical doctors, the members of Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity UBC Chapter are devoted to philanthropic and leadership projects. The philanthropy committee provides opportunities for community service projects to our UBC chapter members so that we give back to the community which has fueled our development.
Our fraternity is involved with bi-weekly group volunteering sessions at the Union Gospel Mission where our members help prepare and serve meals to the residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Additionally, PhiDE members will perform scientific experiments at BC Children’s Hospital for many children and participate in a three-day community service event at an elementary school via the Reading Week Project. Lastly, the philanthropy committee is running a book drive for the Vancouver General Hospital in November in response to the current shortage of reading materials for patients at VGH. It is our desire, as current undergraduate students and future physicians, to offer assistance and solace to those who need help.
The philanthropy committee is always looking for new opportunities to get involved with local communities so please feel free to contact me regarding any community service projects.
